Buying together
We gather people who want the same product, and only order from the wholesaler once there are enough of us. Nobody pays up front, and nobody pays the markup that normally sits in between.
Hear when a buy opens
Every Friday we send what is open: which buys are running, what they cost and when they close. Separate from the newsletter, because that is a different thing. Tick what you want to hear about.
No buy is running right now. Leave your email address for the next one and you will hear when it opens.
Why buy together?
The price you pay in a shop is not what a product costs. In between sit a wholesaler, a shop, a shelf, and a marketing budget larger than the product itself.
We skip that: we gather people who want the same thing, order directly, and add a small fee that we write out for every buy.
And we do not buy in the cheapest version of something, we buy in the best one there is. If there is no version of a product we would use ourselves, we simply do not run the buy.
How does buying together work?
- 01We pick a product we think is good enough to recommend, and say why.
- 02You leave your email address. You pay nothing and commit to nothing.
- 03Once there are enough of us, we order from the wholesaler. Only then do you get a payment request.
- 04Within 15 kilometres we bring it round for 2.50 euro, or you collect it for nothing. Beyond that we post it, unless it has to stay chilled: then we tell you before you order rather than putting it in a box and hoping.
What do we make on a buy?
We charge a small fee for the finding, ordering, packing and posting, and we write it out for every buy: this is what we paid the wholesaler, this is what we keep, this is what you pay. We would rather earn something small in the open than something large quietly.
What should we buy in?
If you know something that belongs here, tell us. We will work out which version is the best one and whether we can get hold of it. Name a brand if you have one.
