Raspberries
The most fibre per mouthful of any berry here, and the least sugar.
How to use it
Raw, as fruit. Through yoghurt, through oats, or frozen into a smoothie.
The best version
Deeply coloured and dry, with no wet patch in the bottom of the punnet. A wet patch means there are crushed berries underneath.
How to prepare it
Wash them as late as you can, because they soak up water and fall apart. Frozen raspberries are as good for almost everything and half the price.
What it does
Raspberries have been studied on their own far less than the blueberry or the strawberry. They are here for what is certainly in them: a lot of fibre and little sugar for a fruit, and the same red pigments as the other berries.
Watch out
What is sold as raspberry ketone for weight loss is a compound in a capsule, at doses you would never reach by eating raspberries. It has nothing to do with eating the fruit.
